5 HARMFUL HABITS FOR TEETH HEALTH
We already know that brushing your teeth and maintaining basic daily hygiene is essential for your teeth to be healthy. But, what else can we do to ensure our oral health? Here is a list of 5 habits to avoid:
1- Biting nails. In addition to wearing teeth, this act can contaminate the mouth with various germs, bacteria, fungi and viruses that may be lodged in the nails. Caution!
2- Chew only on one side. It is very common to chew on one side without realizing it (unilateral chewing). But this can end up damaging the health of the teeth, causing wear on the dental arch. Try to consciously train chewing!
3- Use your teeth as a tool. This includes opening packages and cans with the help of teeth, for example. The habit can cause cracking and other damage to the dental bone structure.
4- Consuming excess acidic foods. Citrus fruits like lemon, pineapple, orange as well as tomato sauce and soft drinks, when consumed in excess, damage the tooth structure and tooth enamel, which can trigger problems such as acid erosion.
5 – Grit your teeth. The wear and tear caused by the grinding of teeth (bruxism) can cause problems such as sensitivity. In cases of bruxism, the ideal is always to consult your dentist for indication of the best treatment for the problem.
Changing a bad habit can be difficult, but the benefits worth it. Think about it!
